Overview
We know many districts are rapidly transitioning to remote instruction, and we want to help.
Clever has partnered with Zoom to make video conferencing free for all districts experiencing school closures.
If your district is closed, or planning for a closure, your district can request a special Zoom account for your district. Zoom accounts setup through Clever will include the following:
- Unlimited teacher accounts
- No time limit on class sessions (40 minute limit removed)
- Single sign-on via the Clever Portal
- Support for PCs, Macs, Chromebooks, iPads, Android phones & iPhones
- Breakout Rooms for small-group discussions
Through this partnership, Zoom is making all of these features available at no charge through July 1, 2020.
How do I create a Zoom account?
Adding Zoom and creating accounts are managed at the district level. District administrators can find directions for adding the Zoom integration here.
If you do not see the Zoom app in your Portal, please contact your district help desk.
How do I log in to Zoom?
- Log in to the Clever Portal
- Click on the Zoom icon.
You are now logged in and will be directed to your Zoom profile! On this page, you can find your Personal Meeting ID URL that you will share with your students.

How do I update my virtual meetings to support password protection?
Beginning April 6, 2020, Zoom has updated the default settings for education customers to enable password protection for meetings. If your attendees are joining via a meeting link, please follow the directions below to update the link on your Clever Teacher Page. This will ensure students will not need to enter a password when joining your meeting:
Step 1: Log in to the Clever Portal
Step 2: Click on the Zoom application in the Clever Portal
Step 3: Click on “Meetings” from the left-hand navigation
Step 4: Click on the name of the scheduled meeting you wish to adjust
Step 5: Copy the updated Join URL
Step 6: Go to the Clever Portal → Click on your Teacher Page for the corresponding class (Example: Algebra 1)
Step 7: Hover over the icon for your existing Zoom link and click Edit
Step 8: Paste the updated Join URL where it says “PASTE LINK HERE…”
Step 9: Click “Save link”
Step 10: The updated URL will now be available to your students. Repeat these steps for each of your Zoom links.
For meetings scheduled moving forward, the meeting password can be found in the invitation and will automatically be included in the Join URL.
How do my students log in to Zoom?
Once you have created a Zoom icon for your students, they will simply log in to the Clever Portal → Click on your teacher page → Click on the Zoom icon that you added. They will immediately be taken to your virtual meeting!
