Introduction

Select District phone system users can set up a softclient (an app that behaves like the phone on your desk) that will allow them to make and receive phone calls as well as listen to voicemails. 

In order to do this, users must install the FortiClient VPN and the FortiFone apps on their smartphone and then configure them.

Obtaining the apps

Download the free FortiClient VPN app and the FortiFone app onto your smartphone.

Configure the FortiClient VPN 

  1. Open the FortiClient VPN app.
  2. Click Connections.
  3. Click Add Configuration...
  4. Complete the form.
    • Name - provide a name to specify this is a VPN to the SMSD network.
    • Host - https://204.13.14.132
    • Port - 10443
    • User - your Active Directory user
  5. Choose to Hide invalid certificate warning.
  6. Click Save.
  7. To connect to the VPN, turn on the VPN option on the main screen of the app. If asked for a password, use your Active Directory user's password.

Configure FortiFone

  1. Connect to the FortiClient VPN.
  2. Open the FortiFone app.
  3. Click the menu at the top left corner and click Account.
  4. Click the ellipse (three dots) on the upper right corner and click Add FortiVoice Account.
  5. Complete the form.
    • Account name - provide a name specify this is the District extension/phone.
    • Server - 172.18.253.101:443
    • Username - your extension
    • Password - your extension's password
  6. Click Save.
